Fly Away with Stratos

Say hello to MOTUC Stratos! Old meets new. Masters of the Universe Classics.

He-Man.org has pictures of the new Masters of the Universe Classic Stratos figure and it looks like the original Stratos figure only cooler. There’s also pics of Mer-Man with his two variable heads! These new figures look great and I’m especially liking the new Skeletor. (He was one of my favorite characters, next to Webstor.) It’s too bad that these new figures won’t be out for a few months though, but I’m patient.

The Stratos character in the cartoon was one of the cooler characters in the show. I think he was like one of the only guys that could fly on his own. Since he appeared regularly alongside Ram-Man, I imagine being able to fly away from any unwanted, ramming would be useful. (Ram-Man always creeped me out a bit.)

Monster Toast

Dan Goodsell's Monster Toast plush for the Monster Rally Show at Gallery.

It looks like Dan Goodsell’s Monster Toast is ready for Halloween and the Monster Rally Show at Gallery 1988 San Francisco in October 2008. I’ve not heard much about this show yet, but I’d imagine it’s monster themed. (Boo!) I also thought his Vampire Toast was cool too, but this Monster Toast looks a lot scarier. (Although I see he’s just a little scaredy cat.)

Spawn – Robot Wars

MECHA-SPAWN (Team Leader) Series 35: Robot Wars in the year 3047.

I’ve not been keeping up with Spawn since it first came out in comic book form back in the 90s, but these new figures look like robots. I know the story changes direction and all and I’ve seen medieval Spawn figures at the local toy store, but these new mecha warriors are a whole nother direction. I guess McFarlane and his team have quite the imagination cap on. The new series of six figures is set release in October.

The historic 35th line of SPAWN action figures makes the leap to the year 3047, when a heroic team of robot warriors fights to defend Earth from the unstoppable force of the villainous Mechanoid Army.

Mecha-Robots are cool and all, but wasn’t Spawn originally about a flawed anti-hero in the middle of a battle between Heaven and Hell? At least these new figures look cool, which is what really matters I guess.

G.I. Joe Specialist Trakker

G.I. Joe M.A.S.K. figure - Specialist Trakker Is Matt Trakker.

Hasbro’s upcoming 7th wave of single carded G.I. Joe figures for October 2008 includes Specialist Trakker. Yes, the one and only leader of M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand)! With all their cartoons and toys, that were produced during the 1980s, my brother and I were big fanatics. My favorite figure was Brad Turner with his styling green Condor motorcycle/helicopter. We were even lucky enough to get the Boulder Hill playset one year for Xmas. We just about freaked when we saw it.

I know that vehicles are such an important part of the M.A.S.K. line, but I still think it’s cool Hasbro is doing this. It’s another reason why I got back into collecting G.I. Joes again. It would be great to see a couple of other characters sneak in as part of the G.I. Joe line too. Hint, hint, Hasbro.

A special thanks goes out to Shawn Robare of Branded in the 80s who brought this to my attention a couple of months ago.

The Simpsons Mini Series

Kidrobot and The Simpsons Announce All New Mini-Figure Series.

This August 21st Kidrobot has some swell Simpsons vinyl, mini-figures that they’ll be releasing. 24 characters in all, each vinyl toy stands 3 inches tall, includes a character sticker and comes blind boxed to preserve its identity. They’ll be sold separately (or can be purchased by the case) for $7.95. The Simpsons creator, Matt Groening, teamed up with Kidrobot to create these fun, little toy treats.

The mini Marge looks cute and so do Itchy and Scratchy, but if I could get all of them that’d be great. But 24 x $7.95 = $$$ I usually only buy a few blind boxes and hope that I don’t get duplicates. I know hard core fans barter and trade for their favorites to complete sets, but that can get expensive.
