Small Wonder aired for five seasons in syndication and often reran out of order, to the chagrin of fans. The show has since withstood the test of time to emerge as a classic laser beacon of 80s nostalgia and pop culture. Marking 24 years after the initial premiere on network television, Small Wonder: The Complete First Season, finally debuts on DVD for the first time on February 16, 2010 from Shout! Factory.

This is great news! I grew up watching this crazy, awesome show with my brother. It’s too bad that the gritty, unshaven Captain Carl, won’t be appearing…

I’ve always been impressed by Scott Campbell’s adorable, little watercolor paintings. Well his latest artwork from the show “We’ll Be Right Back… After These Messages”, at the Rivet Gallery, are up and they look great. The show was inspired by cartoons from the 80s and early 90s and runs through Aug 31st. Artists include Andrew Bell, Charlie Owens, Christopher Lee, Daniel Elson, Clinton Reno, John Lara, Tiffany Liu, Mike Maas, Scott Campbell, Shannon Bonatakis, Jason Limon, Thom Glick, C.J. Metzger, Matthew Hawkins, and Gunnar.

I enjoyed last night’s episode of Family Guy, especially when a couple of bad guys from He-Man showed up and the part with the David Cassidy poster. The show it was split into three segments, each parodying a film based on a Stephen King novel (Stand by Me, Misery and The Shawshank Redemption) and it was freakin funny. Wil Wheaton seemed to like the episode, how about you?

The Simpsons, currently in its 20th year as a regularly scheduled half-hour series, is the longest-running comedy in television history. The show is a cultural phenomenon, recognizable throughout the world and now Uncle Sam is getting in on the deal. Yup, it’s the Simpsons stamps! Starting May 7, the United States Postal Service will make buying stamps and mailing in bills late, more fun! Ay Caramba!

I forgot to post about this earlier, so here it is. On last week’s NBC’s show “30 Rock” (entitled “Apollo, Apollo“), they paid some sweet homage to the Muppets. With an appearance of several unique Muppets caricatures of various show characters, as seen through the eyes of the silly page Kenneth. That and the commercial for a chat line 1-(900) OK-FACE (with Liz Lemon as Bijou), made for an awesome episode.

Join G1988: LA for the gallery’s 5 year Anniversary show, “Idiot Box,” where 100 artists will take aim at television’s guiltiest pleasures. The show opens Thursday night, April 2nd, with a reception from 7-11 PM at Gallery1988 Los Angeles. You can see some sweet sneak peeks of more artwork on their blog. Unfortunately, this time around I don’t think I will be able to attend the opening show because of my new work hours, but that shouldn’t stop you from going, seeing Mr. Belding and enjoying tons of great art.
