We Three Kings of Family Guy

Family Guy (Three Kings - 6ACX15) Norm from Cheers, Mer-Man, Ace and Beast Man

I enjoyed last night’s episode of Family Guy, especially when a couple of bad guys from He-Man showed up and the part with the David Cassidy poster. The show it was split into three segments, each parodying a film based on a Stephen King novel (Stand by Me, Misery and The Shawshank Redemption) and it was freakin funny. Wil Wheaton seemed to like the episode, how about you?

You can watch it over on Hulu for a short time.

Old Red Pen

Old Red Pen's scribbling and doodling on Ridan The Devil And Other Stories by Louis Becke.

When you take things out of context just about anything can be funny. For example old stories. At Old Red Pen you’ll find a few old books that have been enhanced with some lovely scribbling in red pen. Some of the scribbling contains insight into the life of the scribbler and most of it is pretty funny. The only time I defaced a book was when I was in college. Back then highlighting entire chapters was a popular fad.

Copper Master Chief

Comic entitled Copper - Shooter, by Kazu Kibuishi. (A bit of Halo 3 among friends.)

There’s a new wonderfully entertaining Copper comic available, which you can find on Kazu Kibuishi’s site: Bolt City. This one is something near and dear to a lot of us – gaming. First-person shooter video gaming to be exact. Halo 3 to be more exact. I’ve never had enough time, skills or real interest playing first-person shooters. (Although it’s fun to watch.) If I were to play Halo now, I’m sure I’d easily be overtaken by a bunch of fowl mouthed 5 year olds.

Simpsons Stamps

The Simpsons U.S. postage stamps.

The Simpsons, currently in its 20th year as a regularly scheduled half-hour series, is the longest-running comedy in television history. The show is a cultural phenomenon, recognizable throughout the world and now Uncle Sam is getting in on the deal. Yup, it’s the Simpsons stamps! Starting May 7, the United States Postal Service will make buying stamps and mailing in bills late, more fun! Ay Caramba!

Dear Simpsons family,

How are you? I am fine. Thank you for your cool new stamps. When can we expect to see the hundreds of other townsfolk in stamp form? I like your show very much. I’ve watched every episode. (Even the ones in the first few seasons where you tried to teach me a moral lesson.) Please continue to entertain me with your show, for years to come, and I promise I’ll continue to memorize each and every episode so I can recite the lines later, to others, at inopportune times.

Thanks,
Andrew

30 Rock Muppetized

Sesame Street-style Anything Muppet caricatures of various characters on 30 Rock.

I forgot to post about this earlier, so here it is. On last week’s NBC’s show “30 Rock” (entitled “Apollo, Apollo“), they paid some sweet homage to the Muppets. With an appearance of several unique Muppets caricatures of various show characters, as seen through the eyes of the silly page Kenneth. That and the commercial for a chat line 1-(900) OK-FACE (with Liz Lemon as Bijou), made for an awesome episode.

Breadou

Breadou - cute, ergonomically designed computer wrist rest that look like bread.

Breadou – it looks and smells like the real thing, but it never expires! You can smell and squeeze them but, do not eat them! The freshly craft-baked masterpieces look just like bread, but they’re computer wrist rests. I might have a thing for bread or I might just be in the need of a wrist rest for all my time in front of a computer – either way I just thought this was a great idea. There are lots of different bread creations to choose from and they all make perfect companions for stress-free cyber-loafing.

Stormtrooper Apprehension

Stormtrooper Apprehension picture by OldManMusings at WonderCon 2009.

I got this picture while at WonderCon last week and I really enjoy it. The way the Stormtrooper is looking down at the boy and the way the boy is holding his mom’s hand with slight apprehension, I find quite adorable. The little guy didn’t cry and handled the situation like a man. Oh Star Wars, is there anything you can’t teach us?

Speed Dating Jerry

Those funny Zucker brothers posted a brand new animated episode of “It’s JerryTime!” for you to enjoy. This hilarious, cleverly-animated episode called “Speed Dating” and it’s about Jerry’s awkward speed dating experience. It stars comedian Kristen Schaal (Mel from Flight of the Conchords) and she’s a riot. Watching this might make you think twice about dating or talking to a stranger of the opposite sex.

Gonna Need A Bigger Boat

Comic entitled Copper - Angler, by Kazu Kibuishi.

Fans of Kazu Kibuishi and his comic Copper will be happy to know that he’s created a new one, which you can find on his site Bolt City. It’s a pretty fun one about fishing and the one that gets away. That’s pretty much the case when I’ve been fishing. I’ve not gone fishing for years and unless something has changed in that time, I’m bet my line would remain vacant. Sometimes you think that you should just have tossed the bait into the water to begin with. That’s why I prefer to get my (already caught) fish and chips with malt vinegar nowadays.
