Underwater Land

Shel Silverstein's Underwater Land, CD/book of hilarious kids' nautical music.

Just when you thought Shel Silverstein was busy being deceased he comes out with a new album. As a big fan of him and his books and records, I was totally surprised to hear about his latest work called Underwater Land.

Enjoy seventeen delightful underwater themed songs, written by Shel Silverstein and sung by Pat Dailey for minnows of all ages. Featuring a beautiful 32-page booklet of previously unreleased Silverstein lyrics and illustrations, Underwater Land overflows with the zany humor and poignant wit that has made Shel Silverstein one of the world’s most popular and best-loved children’s authors of all time.

I used to have his vinyl records years ago, but have since lost them I believe. I don’t even have any of his books. But I’ve got most of his humorous rhymes in my heart.

30 Dumb Inventions

T.V. Glasses, 1963. Inventor Hugo Gernsback with his T.V. Glasses. -Time

A curved barrel machine gun? A speechless phone-answering robot? A “tasty” mixture of honey and vinegar called Honegar? Brilliant, you say? Ingenious, you mutter. No, they’re just some of the 30 dumb inventions over at Life. These historical blunders are quite entertaining and I bet people are still coming up with dumb inventions. In fact, I’ll give you a few off the top of my head: rechargeable toilet paper, inflatable contact lens, heated ice cube trays and a dateless calendar. Can you come up with some?

Well his latest artwork from the show “We’ll Be Right Back… After These Messages”, at the Rivet Gallery, are up and they look great. Bear and Fox Forever

Bear and Fox Forever comics by Randall Christopher.

From the guy who brought us Kleeman and Mike, Randall Christopher has created a new comic – Bear and Fox! It follows the adventures of two best friends; a mockingbird named Bear and a snake named Fox. Bear’s name comes from his loud, boisterous nature. Fox’s name refers to his clever, thoughtful disposition. They’ve known each other forever. Their personalities and tastes sometimes clash, but they always have fun adventures and they are friends to the end.

Be sure to visit Bear and Fox at Comic-Con 2009, table F-11!

Go Home IE6

IE6 denial message for Momentile.com

This illustration by John Martz is awesome! When users surfing the web with IE6 visit Momentile.com, this is what they see.

IE6 gets such a bad wrap and it totally deserves it. This outdated browser needs to go the way of the dodo. I use the latest incarnation of Firefox for most of my daily browsing and am still stuck with IE6 on my PC. (Thanks Microsoft! I won’t be updating the browser and it’s a bear to uninstall it from the OS.) Many businesses are stuck with using IE6 and that’s too bad.
