Fiendish Friends

Hooray for singing vegetables! And hooray for Making Fiends on Nicktoons!

As you might have known, the ever popular Making Fiends web cartoon, that was created by Amy Winfrey, is now on Nicktoons. These new episodes were made in the same style and technique as the web cartoon, but are much more detailed for TV. The show premiered in the U.S. on Nicktoons yesterday at 11:30 AM EST (8:30 AM PST). If you missed the show don’t worry, they’ll be on every Saturday morning. Be sure to check out the updated Making Fiends site for yourself.

First Hulk vs Wolverine Animated

Watch the 1st Hulk vs. Wolverine Animated trailer at Marvel.com!

In January 2009 two of the most famous battles in Marvel’s comic book history are finally being brought to life: Hulk vs Thor and Hulk vs Wolverine. (My personal classic Marvel fight would be Hulk vs Wolverine when it was 1st told in issue 181 of The Incredible Hulk.) You can check out the new Hulk vs. Wolverine trailer and be sure to see the whole thing at San Diego Comic-Con 2008! That’s right! The world premiere screening takes place on Thursday July 24th at 4:15PM in Hall H.

You can be sure I’ll be there!

Kung Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda: Po (voice Jack Black).

I went and saw the Kung Fu Panda movie over this past weekend and really enjoyed it. I don’t know if it was just the hilarity of Jack Black, the splendid and rich animation, or the action packed well written storyline - I think the movie rocked. The theater was half packed with kids and they were loving it too. Go see it if you haven’t already, I’m sure you’ll really enjoy it. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll learn some cool new Kung Fu moves you can use to impress your friends and family. Prepare for awesomeness.

Just Plane Insane

It's JerryTime! It was a plane trip to remember.

It’s been awhile but it was worth the wait - so get ready for another wonderful story from It’s JerryTime! This time around we find Jerry taking the plane. Bad airlines can make you insane and I’m sure you can relate to Jerry’s dislike of air travel. He said that the last leg of his flight was like the Twilight Zone’s Nightmare at 20,000 Feet. (Capt. Kirk seeing men in fuzzy suits reminds me of Star Trek.)

Can’t Fool Owls

Owls are here and you can't fool them. From the UK-based team at Webbls-Stuff.com

Another musical toon, looped for your pleasure from those creative Weebl guys. If it rhymes with Simon Cowell you can be sure it’s in Owls. Like most of Weebls stuff, you can’t get it out of your head and you can’t fool owls.

Ghostfight BOS Part 1

Ghostfight: Battle of the Swords (part 1) by Justsolo.

I’ve watched and rewatched Ghostfight a few dozen times now and each time it’s different and really cool. There’s a ton of action as these stick figures battle it out with swords. With it’s great music, dazzling effects and fluid animation, there’s always something a bit different each time you watch this fun Flash movie. Speed, perspective, background colors, music and angles change each time you watch it. There’s even some interactivity to it too! Watch it for yourself!

I hope you’re ready for the show next week and I hope you have fun. If you’re like me and can’t make it, you can check out their free audio and video podcast coming from the event (April 18-20, 2008). Remember that the show is more than just comic books. It’s the East Coast’s largest pop-culture event with comic and graphic novels, anime and manga, toys and games, movies and TV, video games and art. If you’re going, don’t forget to say hi to Stan Lee, Dan Goodsell and get your Official Iron Man Toon Tumbler!

It’s also only a few months before the San Diego Comic-Con. So you better get ready!

SBCG4AP!

Homestar Runner is coming to Nintendo's WiiWare, courtesy of Telltale Games.

Presenting Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People! SBCG4AP is a new episodic game series starring Strong Bad and the rest of the crew from the Homestar Runner cartoons and developed by Telltale Games (The same people who made that game “Rabbitdog and Bunnyman“). In each SBCG4AP episode, you take control of Strong Bad and interact with other characters in beloved locations such as Strong Bad’s basement, Bub’s Concession Stand and The Stick.

“Telltale has been rejecting my ideas for green text adventures for years,” laments thousandaire gadabout Strong Bad, “but we finally reached a compromise with this puffy 3D point-and-click-em-up adventure. They claim all the coding was done with green text, so I guess that’s pretty cool.”

The game was designed specifically for WiiWare, so it’ll be taking advantage of Wii Connect24 with some special features that will tie the episodes together and let you communicate with friends. (WiiWare are downloadable games you buy with Wii Points from the Wii Store directly on your Wii.) WiiWare as a service will start on May 12 with a few titles, but SBCG4AP will be released sometime in June.

Tentacle-Packed Futurama

The second of the four planned Futurama straight-to-DVD films - releasing June 24, 2008.

It looks like more Futurama fun with the upcoming straight to DVD film Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs. This is great news if you’re like me and can’t get enough Futurama. It will be release June 24th, but you can pre-order it now. Perhaps you’d enjoy watching a storyboard preview of this upcoming Futurama masterpiece.

In what Fox is calling the most tentacle-packed Futurama epic, space itself rips open, revealing a gateway to another universe. What lies beyond is a mix of horror and love as the Planet Express crew encounters a repulsive, planet-sized monster with romantic intentions.

My world for a billion back scratchers! Buy the DVD at Amazon today.

The Future is Back!

Futurama: New Episodes March 23, 2008 on Comedy Central!

Yup, you heard right, Futurama will be back on the air soon. I was watching Futurama repeats on Comedy Central last night and a commercial showed a mighty big Bender with text saying "Futurama - New Episodes March 23" on the screen. Yippie! As I said before, Futurama’s return is great news for all us fans. So be sure to watch the new Futurama episodes starting Sunday, March 23 on CC at 8pm! It’ll be great to see everyone in the 31st century again.

Goobees

Goobees - darkly comic film about the inner workings of a vending machine.

Goobees - Here’s a sweet little film created by four graduate students at Texas A&M. It’s an all out candy war within the candy vending machine. It’s a creatively, colorful short animation that whets your appetite for more. Just be warned, it’s a little dark and that’s not just the chocolate. At least it won’t cause you cavities.

Sickly Sam’s Big Outing

Sickly Sam's Big Outing: The Homestar Runner helps Sickly Sam get ready for a date.

Listen Up Short Children!! It’s the first full Old-Timey Homestar Runner toon in quite awhile and it includes a color! Sickly Sam gets a date and a full meal in this program.

I do believe you’ve spicked my span.

These old-timey shenanigans from Homestar are the best. The sloppy edits, grainy appearance, the static and pops, and the old-timey speak are the bee’s knees.

WALL-E Movie in 2008

Pixar Animation WALL-E and his cockroach buddy.

If you like family, animated adventures with robots then this new Pixar movie called WALL-E, will knock your socks off! The Pixar animation in these movie trailers are just fantabulous. Doesn’t this film look sweet? A brief synopsis for this film is:

What if mankind had to leave Earth, and somebody forgot to turn the last robot off?

It’s succinct and gets your mind-a-wondering. This will be a great movie if you’ve got kids. Plus if you bought them the Finding Nemo DVD, which they’ve watched a million times, you’ll appreciate a new movie for them to fixate on. It’s sci-fictiony and there is plenty of robots to enjoy and everybody likes robots. It comes out June 27, 2008, so you’ve got a few months to wait.

A big shout out and thanks to lamartherevenger for reminding me about this movie! Congrats again on your new baby boy, Alex!

Note: Just like Google, if Pixar offers you a job, take it!

Animated Adamantium Abounds

The new animated TV series Wolverine & the X-Men.

It appears that there is a new TV show coming to town. Wolverine & The X-Men, a new 26 part animated series from Marvel. From the trailer we can see Wolverine running the shots as the Brotherhood of Mutants causes havoc around town.

When an explosive event shatters the lives of the X-Men and takes away their mentor, the beaten heroes walk away from it all. But then they’re given a rare glimpse into the future, and see a world in utter ruin, ruled by giant destructive robots - a world that spiraled out of control because the X-Men had given up. So now the most legendary of all X-Men takes the lead: Wolverine! Reuniting these broken heroes, Wolverine embarks on the ultimate mission - to prevent the world’s destruction. To rescue us from ourselves. To save the future.

It stars everyone’s favorite mutant, Wolverine. Oh and the X-Men will be in the show too. (I imagine they’ll be playing cameo, so as to not take all of Logan’s camera time.)

A Brief History of Donkey Kong

Animated short for the King of Kong DVD by I Am 8-Bit productions.

Wow, a second Gabe Swarr post in a row! It’s a Gabe-tastic world we live in!

Did you get a chance to see The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters movie last year? Well now you can watch it on DVD. Our friends Gabe Swarr, Jon Gibson and Tony Mora, from the successful I Am 8-Bit show, created a short animation about the history of Donkey Kong for the King of Kong DVD. It’s pretty entertaining seeing Shigeru Miyamoto dance around with Mario and Donkey Kong on the top of the Empire State Building. Go watch the short, all the way through, and consider buying the DVD release of this excellent documentary. (Inevitably it’ll become a cult classic.)
