San Diego Comic-Con 2009 Pictures

Here’s a few (hundred) pictures I took at Comic-Con, easily viewable in this little slideshow. Enjoy!

San Diego Comic Con 2009 has come and gone. This was it’s 40th year. It ran Thursday, July 23, through Sunday, July 26, 2008 (with a Preview night on Wednesday, July 22). And like last year, all the memberships for Comic-Con were sold out way before the show started. So if you want to go to the show in 2010 (the show will be July 22nd-25th) perhaps you should get your tickets early.

I’m putting together my annual Comic-Con swag contest, so be ready!

Aye Aye Captain

Marvel Universe Captain America San Diego Comic-Con 2009 exclusive toy.

Marvel Universe – Captain America: The Super Soldier is Marvel Universe #0! Featuring special edition grey scale deco, this Captain America looks like he’s straight out of the headlines of the 1940’s! Showcasing the stunning artwork of Joe Quesada, this classic Cap is “frozen” in time and packaged on a single card for you to take home and enjoy. This fully articulated action figure does look pretty cool. It’s good timing to release this toy with the limited comic book series Captain America: Reborn starting up. Who could have guessed that they’d bring the Captain back?

Soundwave Superior

25th Anniv. Soundwave Special Edition a Hasbro San Diego Comic-Con 2009 Exclusive.

Soundwave – He’s one of the few G1 Decepticon’s that didn’t disappoint Megatron and with this news he won’t disappoint his toy collecting fans either:

One of the most recognizable characters from the TRANSFORMERS brand lore, SOUNDWAVE is making a retro-comeback for San Diego Comic-Con in honor of the brand’s 25th Anniversary. Hasbro is re-releasing the original 1984 edition of the figure that will include four of the SOUNDWAVE character’s cassettes, two of which have not been released since the 80’s. The cassette characters include BUZZSAW, LASERBEAK, RATBAT and RAVAGE. The four figures fully convert between robot and cassette mode and fit into SOUNDWAVE when in cassette mode.

Soundwave rocks! Even at $49.99 and with cassette recorders being a little outdated, I’d still like to get this cool looking, classic Transformer. I never had the original, it was my lucky brother that got him. It’s too bad that the toy doesn’t generate energon cubes or that Frenzy isn’t included.

Wonder Twins SDCC09 Exclusive

DC Universe Classics Wonder Twins 2 pack w/ mischievous monkey, Gleek! SDCC09 Exclusive

Wonder Twin powers, activate! Fans of the Super Friends cartoon, from back in the 70-80s, listen up. Here’s some awesome news (and pics) about San Diego Comic-Con 2009 Exclusives from Mattel:

That’s right, the one and only Wonder Twins, Zan and Jayna, are available for the first time in Mattel’s DC Universe Classics line sculpted by the world famous Four Horsemen with the articulation and detail you have come to expect from this award winning line! Figures are available in special window box packaging complete with character accurate accessories as well as amazing light and sound action! As an added bonus, available ONLY as an exclusive gift with purchase at SDCC: the Wonder Twins’ mischievous monkey, Gleek! Only available at the show, Gleek will not be with the set online afterwards.

Amazing light and sound action? Cool! I’m just surprised that Mattel never made Wonder Twins action figures before and is it me or does Gleek look a little too realistic?
