X-Men the Animated Series

The 90's X-Men Animated Series coming to DVD.

This popular Marvel mutant cartoon originally debuted back on Halloween of 1992. X-Men the Animated Series was not only one of the longest-lasting series on Fox Kids, it was the longest-running Marvel Comics-based show, running for five seasons and 76 episodes. Whenever I’d flip on the tube and see/hear that familiar opening theme, I’d be in mutant heaven! We’ve been waiting for these episodes to come to DVD for quite awhile and now they finally have. The Two 2-Disc DVD sets will be released on April 28, 2009 and Amazon.com has them up for pre-order for $17.99 each. Marvel X-Men Volume 1 and Marvel X-Men Volume 2. This was easily the best 90’s cartoon we had.

the only sad thing about that series was when it debuted, i was disappointed that it didn’t follow the “pryde of the x-men” pilot. the animation was better and i felt they introduced the x-men better. plus wolvie had his kick-@$$ brown and yellow costume and nightcrawler and colossus were on the team. i was annoyed with rogue and gambit on the fox series.

I was annoyed with the usefulness of Jubilee. “Look at me, sparklers. Weeeeeee!”

oh yeah.. my mind blocked out that horror.

I used to like her, but I kind of had a crush on her.

Wow, this brings me back. This show helped thrust me into the Marvel comic world. I was in 5th grade already trading Marvel comic cards when it debuted. (Collecting cards was easier/cheaper than collecting comic books). I really had no qualms about it because I had no foreknowledge or history in the Marvel Universe to go on — it was just awesome to get some story to go with all the images and brief descriptions.

I agree with the annoyance of the Rogue/Gambit storyline as well as the Jubilee one. Jubilee had an awesome power, but she just couldn’t ever grow a pair to utilize it.

Speaking of “pansy,” can anyone point me to a story-arc where Cyclops is pretty badarse?

  6. Savage

Cyclops being badarse? I’m sorry, I don’t think that has happened.

The 2 volumes they are releasing only have 32 episodes. when are they releasing the other 44?

makes me recall the video game (oh the memories are so vague) that came out sometime during the running of the series…
