Obama Trading Cards

Topps President Obama Trading Cards 24-Pack Box

Yes America it’s true! You can have your very own Topps’ Obama Trading Cards! The cards will be available in 6-card packs for a suggested retail price of $1.99 and will ship on January 3rd. It seems kind of odd to make Presidential Collector Cards. Does every president have a baseball card?

As a kid I used to collect baseball cards. Just a few mind you and I traded them all away. I really didn’t collect them since I’m not really a baseball fan. Years later I started collecting Marvel cards and Garbage Pail Kids cards. I’ve still got tons of those somewhere and I still enjoy looking at them. Even as a Obama supporter and card collector, I can’t see myself ever owning these. But if you want to give these to me as a stocking stuffer, I won’t be upset.

Hello Wall-E!

Wall-E: An Adventure Beyond the Ordinar-E.

Well, Hello Wall-E! If you enjoyed the funny romantic comedy Wall-E, you’ll be glad it’s now out on DVD! Wall-E is a great family film with it’s most impressive aspect being the depth of emotion conveyed by a simple robot. If you haven’t seen it, watch it. If you have seen it, I know you’ll want to watch it again. (I know I want to.) It’s “Buy n Large” the best animated film of the year. Pixar will keep you and the kids captivated with Wall-E.

It’s on my Xmas list, why not put it on yours? Go buy your copy today! Buy the product at Amazon today.

MS Paint Adventures

MS Paint Adventures - A 'choose your own adventure' kind of story, illustrated with the state-of-the-art technology of MS Paint.

You wake up locked in a deserted jail cell, completely alone. There is nothing at all in your cell, useful or otherwise. What do you do? The MS Paint Adventures site reminds me of the old school, text-based adventure games, where the player would type in commands. There are some “choose your own adventure” aspects to it, but it’s the entertaining illustrations done with the state-of-the-art technology of MS Paint that really impress. Expect to spend hours clicking through some funny stories.

Please take some time to check out the site and be sure to say hi to Dan. If you’d like to know more about the creator of Mr Toast, check out my interview with him from last year.

Monsters vs. Aliens

Monsters vs. Aliens is a computer-animated 3-D feature film scheduled for a March 27, 2009 release from DreamWorks Animation.

Be prepared for another awesome animated movie from DreamWorks, in theaters March 27, 2009. Watch the trailer for Monsters vs. Aliens and expect to get hooked. They’re producing it in real 3-D, so here’s hoping a nearby theater has it, otherwise I’ll be watching it in regular D. Either way, I’m looking forward to this movie.

When a meteorite from outer space hits a young California girl named Susan Murphy and turns her into a giant monster, she is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years. As a last resort, under the guidance of General W.R. Monger, on a desperate order from The President, the motley crew of Monsters is called into action to combat the aliens and save the world from imminent destruction!

I think Insectosaurus and B.O.B. will be popular characters. Thanks to Shawn from Branded in the 80’s for bringing this to my attention.

Dragon Quest IV Review

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen for the Nintendo DS.

Dragon Quest IV - This is one excellent remake for the Nintendo DS and RPG fans should definitely consider it. In fact this is one of the best DS games I’ve played all year. The way the chapters introduce the player to different heroes is fresh and unique. Like most RPG games, you must battle-battle-battle your way to experience points and gold. (Although it doesn’t get boring or take that long.) The only real bad remark I can make about the game is the poor English translation, which makes parts of the dialog laughable. It doesn’t ruin the game, but it makes you wonder what was lost in translation.

Overall the gameplay, storyline, characters, quests, monsters, music and graphics are excellent and make it really fun to play! (The characters and monsters were designed by Akira Toriyama, of Dragonball fame.) This is the kind of game that will get you excited. If you like old-school RPGs then this is the game for you. Go buy your copy today! Buy the product at Amazon today.

I hope that Dragon Quest V and VI are as good as this!

Make Your Own Muppet

Design your very own Muppet Whatnot at FAO Schwarz.

I just saw this at FAO Schwarz - it’s a Make Your Own Muppet Whatnot Workshop! The choices are limited, but where else can you make your very own Muppet to play with? Choose the color, eyes, nose, hair and outfit. Order now and get your Muppet just in time for the holidays. It’s too bad there’s not more body colors and shapes to choose from. I’d pick a Gonzo or Dr Bunsen Honeydew character.
