Atari 2600 is Thirty

With it’s warm and dusty plastic smell, pseudo-wooden trim, thumb-wearing joysticks and myriad of 8-bit cartridges of fun, the Atari 2600 holds a special place in my memories. (Can you believe that it’s been 30 years since this game console first came out?) I can recall the hours I spent in front of a tiny b&w TV playing Adventure, Frogger, Pac-Man, Journey Escape, Pitfall, Donkey Kong, E.T. and Word Zapper. I wore my thumbs down to nubs and probably stunted my growth, but those were good times.
Happy 30th birthday Atari 2600!

Man, the memories. My fondest of which involves finding the little switch in the back of the console that would allow me to change the rate my helicopter fired on Chopper Command…
