Classic 80s G.I. Joe Reviewed

G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary line of action figures. Cobra! (Joe*Battlelines)

Another big thanks to Shawn from Branded in the 80’s for pointing out the in depth reviews by Fred Meyer of the new G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary line of action figures. (Fred has included lots of great pictures too.) I think the figures look amazing, with all the details of each figure, but there’s still something about them that looks a bit off.

Back in the day we were happy when the Joes got swivel-arm grip, but how much poseability do you need? With these new figures they bend and twist in a myriad of ways. Sure all the points of articulation can add to play value, but they usually detract from sculpt of an action figure. With their pivotable heads, they look a little funny from most angles except from the front. I’m probably scrutinizing them too harshly and I’ll feel better once I get them all in my collection. I’m sure if you’re a G.I. Joe fan you’ll probably want to pick these up too, but probably only to “display not play”.
