Sweet Sweet Sugar

Perhaps you heard the news about Kellogg’s plan to stop pushing sugary cereals to kids and reformulate some of their foods. I’m all for the healthier recipes and wish more food companies and restaurants would do that sort of thing. When I heard last year that NYC and even KFC were doing away with trans fat, I thought that was a great idea. If you can make foods healthier and still taste about the same, do it.
It’s also good news that Kellogg’s will be pulling back their advertising targeting children. Most kids don’t have the experience to deal with commercialism and need to be taught about it. When I see headlines saying “Kids’ Saturday morning television won’t be as sweet”, I see it as a good thing. Let the cartoons sweet talk the kids, not the commercials.
Now if you’ll excuse me I’ve got a sugar mound in the backyard that I must attend to. Must…protect…sugar.
