Classic 80s G.I. Joe

Because of a tragic William Tell accident by Storm Shadow, we now call him Snake Eye.

Thanks to Shawn from Branded in the 80’s for this great news: A new line of G.I. Joe Classics 3.75” 25th anniversary figures will be released soon from Hasbro.

The new 25th Anniversary G.I. Joe figures do look pretty cool, but I still have all my original ones in really good condition. Hmmmm… I do like all the new detailing of each of the figures, so perhaps I will pick them up when they release this summer. Then I can continue my decades old battle where Duke is guarding the shoebox fort from the ever ensuing attack by Cobra, from atop the clothes dresser.

Dunny Azteca

Dunny Azteca - Blind Box by Carlos Dufour.

Dunny Azteca - This 3 inch mini Dunny series was designed by some of Mexico’s most talented artists. The objective of the series was to bring to the surface the very essence of Mexican street arts, underground culture, and diverse history. The myriad of colorful and artful creations appeal to me, so when I was out checking some of my favorite shops I picked up a Dunny Azteca blind box.

After opening the box and foil, I found that I had gotten the one by Carlos Dufour, which is a 1 in 50 chance. He comes with his own pipe, card and is quite unique. He’ll look great next to my Mozzarella vinyl.

Plush Week 2 Show

Plushie goodness - PLUSH WEEK 2: Eclectic Boogaloo from January 23-30, 2007.

Well, PLUSH WEEK 2 is almost at a close. If you didn’t get a chance to make it to the show to enjoy some great plush art, please enjoy some of my snapshots.

Most if not all of the plush art was sold within moments of the start of the show - some sold even before the show started. There were lots of great pieces up on display from folks like Anna Chambers, Cameron Tiede, Carolyn Suzuki, Jen Rarey, Michelle Valigura & Amanda Visell and our good friend Dan Goodsell.

Plush goodness.

Monkey Business

Amazing 'Alive' Chimpanzee is a fully animated.

A few days ago I was singing a favorite song of mine “I’m gonna be a monkey“, while listening to Monkey Tuesday on Penn radio and searching the web for a monkey’s paw, so I could do some wishing and I came across this. It’s a somewhat creepy, animatronic, interactive chimpanzee head. Check it out in action with a video or two.

Also, if you get the chance I’d recommend the movie Project X, with Matthew Broderick. Oddly enough, I’ve been told I look like him.

Heroes 2nd Season

Hero Hiro looks at the sword.

I never thought of myself as a fan of network TV or a TV series. But when NBC’s Heroes started last year, it grabbed my attention. Since I started late, I only watched some of the 1st season in repeats. So now, I’ve started recording the 2nd season. The characters are entertaining and the story is interesting. I’m happy (and somewhat surprised) that they’ve been doing English subtitles for Hiro when he speaks in Japanese. I really like his character and his powers. If you’re interested, I found some neat spoilers.

Is there anyone else watching Heroes?

Adventures of Prince Achmed

A silhouette puppet film - Adventures of Prince Achmed by Lotte Reiniger.

Adventures of Prince Achmed” by Lotte Reiniger, is a silhouette puppet film from 1926. The intricate paper cutouts were connected with wires and delicately arranged on top of a lightbox, where it was photographed frame by frame. The style and technique of this shadow play animation is wonderful to watch. Thanks to the fine folks at ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archives for the beautiful images and info.

Paper Optimus Prime

Free fantastic papercraft Optimus Prime Transformer to download and assemble.

A fully articulate Optimus Prime action figure in papercraft form - Cool! He also transforms - Double cool! Check out the rest of this great site and all the free, downloadable, build-it-yourself paper robots.

Guru Logic Champ

Guru Logic Champ a perfect puzzling game for a brain that desires flexing.

This puzzle game originally came out for the GameBoy Advance in Japan many years ago. It never saw a release here in the U.S. - so this downloadable 10 level demo is all you’ll probably see of this game. To play, the game board can be rotated in 90 degree increments (using the x and z keys) and you shoot (up arrow key) or suck (down arrow key) blocks, while moving (left and right arrow keys) to fill the predetermined empty squares to complete a picture. Although this game is in Japanese, it doesn’t effect the gameplay - even if it makes exiting the game less straightforward (just alt-tab and close the window). If you can find a full version of this fun puzzle game elsewhere, you must let me know.

Clobbering Hunger

Fantastic Four in Wonders of Nature and Hostess Fruit Pies

A disaster mustn’t jeopardize our Hostess Fruit Pies! Let our tummies give thanks to the Fantastic Four for saving the fruity goodness. Wow, will wonders ever cease? I hope their upcoming movie is just as exciting. It’s great to see that they’ve got their own FF canoes, complete with logos. Perhaps young Franklin decorated them himself. In any case, it doesn’t look he’ll save any of his Fruit Pies for anyone else.

Flash Element TD

Flash Element TD by David Scott - based on a Warcraft III mod.

Flash Element TD - In this fun little Flash game you must stop all the creeps before they exit the maze. First it’s the evil sheep, then the evil goblins and so on… Just setup your forces to take them out and earn gold while you do. Save more gold to get the high score! It’s your classic differential game with limited resources of action scenario, so you know it’s fun. Go play and enjoy yourself.

Hotel Dusk

Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is a graphic adventure game for the Nintendo DS.

Hotel Dusk: Room 215 looks to be a promising DS game that will be released on January 22. It’s another CING puzzle type game with a cool artistic style. I wonder if this game will get a better reception than Trace Memory? I might look into this game.

Borat Bunny

Borat with Bunnies in 30 Seconds.

More Angry Alien bunny fun- this time as Borat! I’ve not seen the movie yet, so some of this is lost on me. Has anyone see the movie? It looks a bit twisted.

Update: This clip has been chosen to compete in the internet category of the Platform International Animation Festival in Portland, Oregon. Best of luck to Jennifer Shiman!
