Flight 3 Book Signing

It was a party atmosphere at the Flight 3 show. A DJ playing some hip tracks at the gallery really made it fun. The book signing was a hoot and lots of fans showed up to see their favorite Flight artists, including me. The crowd poured into the gallery slowly as the temperature inside rose. It was really great meeting up with these talented artists and chatting with them. I took some photographs for you all to enjoy – let me know what you think. I finally met up with Kazu Kibuishi and got his autograph – plus a Copper sketch! We talked about some of my favorite work that he does, saw some more artwork he had created and we discussed his upcoming project – Amulet (which is slated for Fall 2007). Kazu is a busy guy and does some wonderful artwork which I really enjoy.
When I chatted with Phil Craven, I had him show me his captivating drawing of a woman in a yellow dress. That was a popular piece which, as you might notice by his smile, sold within minutes of the start of the show.
These folks were really down to earth and fun to chat with. We were cracking jokes and telling stories as the gallery filled with people. Some family members were also in attendance showing their support. We all had a good time and the fans were pleased. The show was a definite hit and it was great to finally meet up with folks.
All the artists had their work on display in the gallery and some of them had their original storyboard sketches up too. The colors, the style and fun were really a feast for the senses. It’s amazing to see all the hard work that went into this great book and I’d highly suggest getting your hands on it.
Combining youthful energy and ample talent, the artwork and stories within the pages of Flight will delight and entertain you. Go pick up your copy today.
Artists pictured above: Chuck BB, Phil Craven, Alex Fuentes, Rodolphe Guenoden, Kazu Kibuishi, Reagan Lodge, Israel Sanchez, Rad Sechrist, and Yoko Tanaka at the Nucleus gallery in Alhambra, CA on Saturday, July 8, 2006. (Since not everyone was there I’ve posted an image of everyone who contributed to Flight volume 3.)
Great stuff, huh?
