Teasing Transformers Trailer

The Transformers teaser trailer shows a realistic rover launched to Mars.

The first teaser trailer for the Transformers movie is available. Again, the movie will be out in July of 2007. This trailer only teases, so I just posted a picture from Transformers of yesteryear… from the good old days when Transformers were in cartoon form. Did you ever wonder where Optimus Prime’s trailer went each time he transformed into a robot? Me too. Those cartoons were great!

Helden 06

LEGO Animation of the World Cup Final 2006

“Helden 06″ is a short movie about the exciting World Cup Final 2006. This animation with Legos must have taken a while to do and it’s really well done. Take a look at it here or watch more at the their site, where you can check out their DVD and see more great pictures of the making of it all.

Note: Some of it’s in German, but there is English too. (It wouldn’t hurt to learn another language…)

Where Imaginary Meets Real

The Real Life Adventures of Mr Toast and friends.

Check out the latest Mr Toast, Lemonhead and Joe the Egg sightings over at Dan Goodsell’s Imaginary World. I just adore these pieces of art. I hope Mr Toast has a map and doesn’t get lost.

Nintendo Power Number One

Nintendo Power #1 - July/Aug 1988 (PDF - 39MBs)

Remember reading the first Nintendo Power magazine? Sure it was waaaaay back in 1988, but who’s counting. So without having to pull out this great magazine from its Mylar wrapper or perhaps yours has since been lost or destroyed - you can now read the issue in PDF. Read up on the fun Nintendo nostalgia with Super Mario Bros 2 or The Legend of Zelda (both with complete walkthrough and strategy maps) and even a Player Forum article with the young Kirk Cameron. Wow, this brings back good times! (Well, all of it except the part about Kirk).

Twinkie Cookbook

The Twinkies Cookbook: An Inventive and Unexpected Recipe Collection from Hostess

With a 75 year history, the Twinkie probably has an equal shelf life. So I guess it was only a matter of time before they came out with a Twinkies cookbook. I’d heard that state fairs and restaurants were making deep fried Twinkies, but now there’s a new way to indulge your Twinkie hankering. With 50 recipes like Twinkie Burrito, Twinkie Strawberry Shortcake, Pigs in a Twinkie, Pumpkin Twinkie Bread Pudding, PBJ Twinkie Cake and Twinkie Banana Split - now you can squeeze in more Twinkies into your Twinkie deficient diet. You can find this cookbook at your favorite bookstore or online, published by Ten Speed Press.

Apu: Silly customer! You cannot hurt a Twinkie.

Has anyone tried any of these recipes? (I’m not much of a cook…)

Player Haters

Daily Show - Jon Stewart on violent video games

Thank goodness for Jon Stewart and the Daily Show.

and as I stand there, watching them play these violent games, helpless to do anything about it, I can’t help but wonder where the system has failed…

What jackasses! What do you guys think?

Cuckoo Again

Call him crazy - Sonny the Cuckoo Bird, mascot for Cocoa Puffs cereal

On Dan Goodsell’s blog back in March he did a post about Cocoa Puffs. He noticed that the mascot, Sonny the Cuckoo Bird, had lost all of his original craziness. Back in the day, Sonny paraded around in a stripped shirt, but as times changed I believe he can be readmitted as a real Cuckoo. Now his eyes are wiggy, he looks really shaky and he’s running around naked. I guess he’s been hitting the puffs a lot more lately or it’s that milk from a questionable source.

3D Logic

3D Logic game by Alex Matveev

Opera on the DS

Opera on Nintendo DS: Hands on Review

It seems that Jon, from Orgs Tech Times, got his hands on a prototype version of Opera for Nintendo DS. At first it’ll only be out in Japan, but it will be available to the rest of the world sometime after that… but no date has been set yet. The graphics look great and he says typing is a breeze with a on-screen keyboard option. It will be nice to have the Opera browser on my DS.

Update: More Opera DS Browser hands on here.

Small Wonder

Vicki the robot from the late 80's TV show 'Small Wonder'.

It seems you only have to wait a little longer… Do not fear technology.

Note: A picture of Twiki, Bender, Rosie or Haley Joel Osmond would of been too weird.

Economic Comics

Free Comics from the Federal Reserve

What’s more fun then economics? If you answered just about anything, you could be right. But what would you say if I told you that the Federal Reserve offers free comic books? Well they’ve got them here and with titles like “The Story of Inflation”, “The Story of Checks and Electronic Payments” and “Wishes and Rainbows“, what could be more fun? These nifty comics were designed for students, the series presents a lively and easy-to-understand look at the Fed and the economy and you can even order them online.

What a dandy way to transform the dull reputation of economic study into something more exciting and fun to grasp like an inconspicuous comic book. Everything is more fun in comic form! I’ve got a few more titles for future issues - “Life in Debt”, “What Wage Gap?”, “Spend, Spend, Spend” and “Rich People are Better then You”.

King’s Quest III Reborn

King's Quest III remade in VGA by Infamous Adventures

What was once old is now reborn. King’s Quest III VGA (remake) was released (for download) yesterday by Infamous Adventures. King’s Quest III: To Heir Is Human is the third installment in the King’s Quest series of computer games that was originally produced by Sierra On-Line back in 1986. Marvel at the 16 color backgrounds and the enhanced close up cut-scenes as you groove to the original music. Re-experience the adventure with a stunning new interface (no more typing) and if you never played it, you’ll probably enjoy it anyway.

I remember borrowing the original game from a friend to play and because of the “copy-protection scheme” in place I needed to borrow the manual too. The game would ask you a random question that could only be answered by the manual. Also, while we’re on the topic of classic adventure gaming, check out my previous post about Thy Dungeonman 3.
