Commodore To Re-Enter Game Industry

The beloved name Commodore, which is easily recognized by those more aged among computer and gaming aficionados, changed hands earlier this year to Yeahromino Media Ventures. They have now announced their intention to return the brand to gaming and are forming a new company, called Commodore Gaming. This new company will produce software and hardware that will use its vast catalog of retro games.
The new company will produce standalone TV devices similar to the wildly successful Atari and Pac-Man self-contained units, as well as software packages akin to Intellivision Lives or Atari Anthology. Furthermore, the Commodore Games label will produce original game licenses as a more traditional games publisher.

Perhaps they’ll bring back some of the great Commodore 64 games like Impossible Mission, Boulder Dash, Ghostbusters and Archon in their original grandeur. Perhaps they could create a new game console? Well, at the time, the Commodore 64 gave all the other systems good competition, even if it looked more like a computer then a game system. Can you imagine a Commodore game console that would go up against the other big guys? It might be a stretch…
but it will be great to see them come back!
